The Big Picture
Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.
Proverbs 22:6
Salt & Light is committed to establishing a donation based tuition-free school accessible to the public, aimed at providing the highest standards of excellence in education. First Principles Academy will serve students in our pilot year for grades Kindergarten through 6th. We are dedicated to grow grade level with each coming year, serving the community with a Christ-centered approach to learning.
Our Mission
We will partner with parents to establish God’s Word as the foundation of all wisdom by:
Teaching the biblical principles of virtue, truth, and beauty
Forming the character & conscience of each child
Developing their unique, God-given gifts and talents
Our Vision
To instill a Christian worldview, restoring the First Principles of our founding, in order to sustain and secure liberty for future generations to the Glory of God and multiplication of the gospel.
About FPA
Operating as a mission of Salt & Light Church, First Principles Academy will be a classical Christian school that ascribes to a philosophy called the Principle Approach ™. The method of education employed in America from its founding until roughly 100 years ago. The Principle Approach ™ teaches students to reason biblically in every area of life, through a focus on seven core principles of liberty found in scripture.
The Seven Principles of Liberty
- God’s Principle of Individuality
- The Principle of Christian Self-Government
- The Principle of Christian Character
- Conscience is the Most Sacred Property
- The Christian Form of Our Government
- Planting the Seed of Local Self-Government
- American Political Union
Phase I
On September 4th, 2024, First Principles Academy celebrated our first day with 60 students, opening grades K-6 with 7 teachers, 1 office manager, and headed up by our School Minister.
During our pilot year, we are utilizing the church building, adapting 6 classrooms, and using the gifts and resources God provided us through our church members and others who share in our vision.
Phase II
In Phase 2, our focus shifts to securing our current building and land while remaining debt-free. As we continue to grow in our grade levels.
Our vision is to convert the barn into a 24-room schoolhouse. This will expand our reach to more than 400 students while growing our team of Christ-centered educators.
Phase III
We aspire to continue to grow First Principles Academy in the Grace and Knowledge of The Lord and accept as many students we are equipped to take along the way. As our program develops, we anticipate launching a life skills training program utilizing the 70 acres here at Salt & Light Church.
This expansion will be achieved through our commitment to remain a donation-based tuition-free education.
Phase IV
In Phase IV, our vision extends beyond the boundaries of our local community to inspire the broader church. We aim to demonstrate through our example that the gates of hell cannot prevail against a unified body of believers committed to Christ-centered education.
Our goal is to initiate a movement of Christ-centered schools within churches across the nation, operating as a mission with the aim of reaching America’s students. By educating our children in the first principles of Christ, we believe we can effect profound change, reshaping the heart of the individual and restoring and preserving His-story.
“A nation that is humble enough to begin with its children may once again lead the nations to Christ”
– Rosalie Slate, Founder – Foundation for American Christian Education
